Foot orthoses & flat-foot management
Custom insoles moulded to the foot that support the arch and correct heel–foot alignment to relieve pain and improve gait in children and adults.
Indications
- Symptomatic flexible flat foot in children
- Adult-acquired flatfoot, posterior tibial tendon dysfunction
- Heel pain, plantar fasciitis
- Müller-Weiss syndrome, Morton's neuroma
- Leg-length discrepancy
Key features
- Impression by foam box or weight-bearing 3D scan
- Rigid arch-supporting shell + resilient top cover
- Medial/lateral heel posting, navicular support
- Metatarsal pad to offload the forefoot
- Leg-length build-up of up to a few centimetres
Not every flat foot needs treatment. It is indicated when there are symptoms: pain, quick fatigue, an in-toeing or out-toeing gait, uneven shoe wear, or effects up the chain at the knee, hip and spine.
We assess the foot standing and walking, test whether the deformity is flexible, then take an impression in a neutral position. The orthosis is built with a rigid shell supporting the longitudinal arch, heel posting to correct alignment and a cushioned cover.
In children the aim is support during growth, symptom relief and monitoring; most flexible flat feet improve with age. In adults the orthosis controls pain and slows progression of posterior tibial tendon dysfunction.
For specific conditions such as Müller-Weiss syndrome or Morton's neuroma, the design targets offloading the affected area, combined with footwear advice.
