At the hip-disarticulation level there is no active hip joint, so all load passes through a socket that encloses the pelvis. The socket is cast precisely to bear on the ischial tuberosity, iliac crest and soft tissue — secure to walk in yet comfortable to sit in.
The mechanical hip joint is set anterior to the load line so the limb extends and stabilises during standing. Paired with a locking hydraulic knee, the user can pass through stance without fear of buckling.
Because this level is energy-costly, we prioritise light materials and a training programme built around weight transfer, pelvic tilt and breathing rhythm to extend walking distance.
