A hip disarticulation prosthesis is an orthopedic and rehabilitation solution designed specifically for people who have lost their entire lower limb — including the hip joint, knee, ankle, and foot — typically following a hemipelvectomy or hip disarticulation surgery. This is considered one of the most functionally challenging amputation levels to rehabilitate, since the amputation is so high that the remaining limb offers no effective weight-bearing point, making prosthesis control a genuinely complex engineering problem.
