Transfemoral amputees must compensate for the loss of both the knee and the ankle, so socket design is decisive. We capture the residual limb with a 3D scan and fabricate an ischial-containment / MAS socket that hugs the pelvis, distributes load evenly and stays stable through stance.
A negative-pressure vacuum suspension with a one-way valve creates total-surface contact with the residual limb, reducing pistoning, improving circulation and restoring a sense of limb position. Patients stand and walk over uneven ground with more confidence.
Depending on the mobility grade (K1–K4) we match the knee joint: a locking knee for early training, a polycentric or hydraulic knee for indoor and outdoor walking, and a microprocessor knee for stairs, slopes and variable speed. An energy-returning carbon foot keeps each step light.
Completion includes static alignment, dynamic alignment on a gait-analysis rig and training sessions with a prosthetist. We review the fit periodically to adjust the socket as limb volume changes and to service the mechanical components.
